Port Jaul
Geo-Politics
For all intents and purposes the roles listed below do not actual exist as player roles or faction leads. They are designed so that during your roleplay you understand the structure of the city under the mountain. Many of these roles exist as NPCs and will never be allocated to players on the sim.

This, as with all of the lore associated with the sim, was written by and for the sim owners to deepen their roleplay. If you choose to ignore this lore but still use the sim, we don’t mind but we would probably act confused, or consider you addled, if we interacted with you.

The structure of the city is very classic for the empire. There is a mayor that runs the civic duties and organize the life and events of the city while supervised by the Arcanum tower that is the main power of the city. The tower share has an ally in the Hunters and the Order to make sure that the creatures of the wild are kept at bay and the dissident magic users are kept in check. The local guards are usually hired through the Hunter's guild. There are rumors that the Sickle has a hand and a foot in Port Jaul as well.

History
The city was founded 200 years ago due to the rise of Kad'Bazar. The port city was the perfect place for people of Nexus to land on the shore and establish caravans to Kad'Bazar, the central trading post between the Dark Elves to the north, the Inash to the west and the dwarves of the south and evidently the people of nexus. With the rise and fall of Kad'Bazar the city has seen glory days and now is living through harsh times since the need to travel to Kad'Bazar has vanished.

Since then the city has been trying to understand what caused the demise of their neighboring town. They still act like a central point for marketing though with the fall of the Kad'Bazar people even if more suspicious use the port as a place to trade between Nexus and the other cities.
Port Siders
Like most cities, and this is especially true of port cities, the population of Port Jaul is highly diverse and cosmopolitan. Elves mingle with humans, halflings, gnomes and dwarves on a regular basis and there is even a goblin who dresses in human clothes and fashions himself as a nobleman. Orcs and half orcs are rarer in the city but are still found around the docks, partaking in the services of the Salty Clam, but all in all, aside from the occasional bar fight or drunken slur hurled at a passer-by, Port Siders are a tolerant and diverse lot.
